Blackpool suffered late heartbreak in the sweltering heat, as Swansea City stole all three points with a late strike.
It was a lively start to proceedings at Bloomfield Road, with the home supporters making themselves heard from the terraces. Josh Bowler weaved his way through the Swansea defence early on to get to the byline, but his effort on goal came off a Swansea man and into the palms of the goalkeeper.
Michael Obafemi tried his luck for the Swans after picking up a loose pass at the back, but his effort was well-held by Dan Grimshaw in Blackpool's goal.
It was a lively start to the game despite the searing heat, with both sides taking a drinks break half-way through the first half to get some fluids into their system.
Swansea came close with ten minutes of the first 45 remaining, as a corner whipped in was headed at goal from Ben Cabango, but it went just wide of the post.
Joel Piroe tried his luck for the visitors with five minutes remaining after some good build-up play, but it was right down the throat of Grimshaw, who saved easily.
Swansea ended the half the better of the two sides, as Jay Fulton found his way in on goal in the final few moments, only for Marvin Ekpiteta to slide in and make a crucial block.

Dan Grimshaw was called into action early in the second half with an unbelievable save low to his right. Swansea captain Matt Grimes took a first time strike from way outside the area, which was deflected on it's way to goal, sending the ball the other way. Grimshaw, though, remained alert and scampered back across goal to make a crucial save.
It was an electric start to the second half, and Blackpool were awarded a penalty just five minutes in. Kenny Dougall was brought down in the penalty area in what was a clear foul, with Jerry Yates the man elected to take the spot-kick. Yates, though, saw his effort to the far right saved well by Andrew Fisher in goal to keep the scores level.
Despite the penalty save, Blackpool were in their stride and dominating the early stages of the second half. Josh Bowler was thread through on goal by Lewis Fiorini just before the hour mark, after finding space out on the right flank. His powerful strike from a tight angle was saved by Fisher.
It was however a bitterly frustrating end to the match, as Swansea snatched an unlikely winner in the final two minutes. With the Seasiders pressing for the winner, the visitors caught Blackpool out with a high-line. Michael Obafemi won possession high up the pitch and was clean through on goal with Olivier Ntcham to his right, who he passed it to as Dan Grimshaw came out, with Ntcham there to tap home into an empty net and give the visitors all three points.
