Blackpool Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Lewis Fiorini on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City.
The 20-year-old midfield player becomes Michael Appleton’s first signing of the summer, and is available for selection for today’s match against Rangers.
A creative midfielder with a keen eye for goal, Fiorini signed a five-year deal with Premier League Champions Manchester City just last year. Having worked under Michael Appleton previously in an impressive loan spell at Lincoln City last season, the Scotland youth international has also enjoyed time abroad with NAC Breda, where he narrowly missed out on promotion to the Dutch top flight.
On signing for Blackpool, Fiorini said:
“I’m buzzing to be here and looking forward to the season ahead.
“I had options to go elsewhere, but coming to Blackpool was exactly what I wanted to do, especially having worked with the gaffer before. I pride myself on providing the team with goals and assists, and hopefully I can do that at the next step-up in the Championship. I can’t wait to get started.”
Head Coach Michael Appleton said:
“Lewis is a very talented player and is someone who will bring goals and assists to the team. He’s one of those players that is only going to get better and better, and with his experiences in Dutch football and in League One, he’s already proved himself at a good level.
“I feel really fortunate to work with him again, and it’s great we’ve been able to bring him here to play in the Championship at Blackpool Football Club.”
