Michael Appleton is looking forward to welcoming a number of players back to his squad in the not-too-distant future.

Several Seasiders are currently sidelined due to injury, whilst Sonny Carey sits out the final game of his suspension for this Sunday’s fixture at Huddersfield Town.

Kevin Stewart, Lewis Fiorini, Keshi Anderson, Jake Beesley, Charlie Patino and Luke Garbutt have been notable absentees in recent weeks, but their availability in the months ahead will only enhance the team and squad.

“We’ve got a lot of players in that medical room at the minute that would, arguably, in their own minds, and in one or two fans’ minds, think they should be in the eleven if they were fit,” Appleton said.

“That just gives me confidence because I know I’ve got players coming back who will feel like new signings. We’ve got a couple who could be back pretty soon - in the next couple of weeks or so - and beyond that, maybe in a month, six weeks down the line, a couple more.

“I think Charlie is going to be the first one. We expect him to train in the next seven to ten days and then be available for the games. Keshi will probably be the one after that. He might be a week after Charlie.”

One player who will certainly be in contention for this weekend's match is new signing Callum Wright, with the former Leicester City man hoping to make a potential debut.
