Blackpool Football Club is delighted to announce the return of Elliot Embleton from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old midfielder rejoins the Seasiders on a permanent basis on a two-year contract, with the Club holding an option of a further 12 months.

Well-known by Blackpool supporters, Embleton enjoyed a successful second half of the season on loan at Bloomfield Road three years ago, helping the side to promotion in 2021, scoring a crucial goal in the semi-final victory over Oxford United.

Since then, the midfielder has gone on to further success, scoring in the League One Play-Off Final in 2022 to help boyhood Club Sunderland on their way to the Championship.

An England youth international, Embleton will link up with Neil Critchley once again, strengthening the squad further ahead of the start of the season this weekend.

On joining the Club, Embleton said:

“I’m buzzing to be back and looking forward to the future here at Blackpool.

“For me, I need to get back playing football and I’ve got such happy memories here, where I feel like I played well and we ultimately ended up getting promoted.

“I sampled the atmosphere against Oxford in the play-offs when there was just 4000 supporters in due to Covid restrictions, and even then it was unbelievable. I can’t wait to play at Bloomfield Road again with more supporters and hopefully we can get the place rocking this season.”
