Steve Bruce is looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead over the Christmas period, with two big away games to sign off 2024.

Pool travel to Wrexham on Boxing Day before heading to Birmingham three days later on the 29th, and the boss is hopeful of his side continuing their impressive away form at two of the league's pace setters.

"There are lots of games coming up and it doesn't get much more difficult than the fixtures we have over Christmas," he said.

"It's a cracking game to look forward to on Boxing Day. Phil Parkinson has done a grand job taking them from where they were to where they are now in the past few years. They play a certain way, they are very direct, which I'm sure will be a total contrast to the game we could face at Birmingham a few days later, so that's lots to look forward to.

"As we have proved before, we're more than capable. Certainly we will have to be at our best if we want to get anything from Wrexham or Birmingham in particular."

Pool have sold out their allocation once again for an away fixture, taking over 1200 supporters to Wrexham, something which Bruce is delighted to see, particularly at this time of year.

"The supporters have been terrific from the first day I worked through the door," he said.

"They can play a big part, as we have already seen this season. I'd like to wish them all a safe trip on Boxing Day and all of them a great Christmas."
