Blackpool got their first minutes of pre-season action under their belts in a defeat to AFC Fylde at Mill Farm.

Jake Daniels handed the Seasiders an early lead before the hosts turned the game on its head through Jon Ustabasi and Adam Long in the first half, before Nick Haughton's penalty sealed the win in the second period.

Pool were lively in the opening stages and Jake Daniels made the difference just nine minutes into proceedings after the ball bypassed Ash Fletcher and found the forward at the back post.

But the hosts responded just a couple of minutes later as Jon Ustabasi beat the onrushing Richard O’Donnell and placed home to equalise. After a spell of Seasiders pressure it was the Coasters who turned the game on its head through Adam Long inside the area after 20 minutes in a frantic opening to the game.

Summer arrival Zac Ashworth was causing the Fylde full back problems as he stretched the play high and wide, winning a couple of set pieces which Pool couldn’t capitalise on.

Blackpool looked dangerous in numbers on the break as CJ Hamilton was fed through, seeing his effort deflect into the path of Jake Daniels and latterly Zac Ashworth who saw his strike diverted for a corner but Pool couldn't find the equaliser heading into the break.

Sonny Carey’s direct run in behind the Fylde defence caused early problems in the second half, but he misfired as he looked to fire across the Coasters’ stopper.

Pool were well in control in the opening stages of the second 45 as Jordan Rhodes rose highest at the back post as his header floated over the bar.

Despite that pressure it was the hosts who provided the first key opening as Mackenzie Chapman denied Daniel Ormerod’s initial effort, but a Dan Sassi foul offered Nick Haughton a chance to add a third from the spot and he duly delivered on the 58th minute.

That goal offered Haughton confidence to try an audacious lobbed effort from range, narrowly missing the top corner before the Seasiders reasserted their general control on proceedings albeit unable to find the cutting edge heading into the final 15 minutes.

Chances were few and far between as Pool's first pre-season outing came to a close before the Seasiders make the trip to Spain for their warm-weather training camp.
