CJ Hamilton shared his delight at being back amongst the action after a spell on the sidelines.

The winger has started the last four matches under Steve Bruce in the league, helping the side pick up eight points in the process but Hamilton is just glad to be back playing football after his injury problems earlier in the campaign.

“It’s great to be back in and amongst the squad,” he said.

“The two injuries didn’t come at a great time but it’s good to be back and part of a team that is doing well.

“I started off well when Steve Bruce came in, I scored a couple of goals and we were hitting good form so to get an injury was gutting.  It’s one of the most frustrating things in football to get injured when you and the team are doing well.  Then when I did come back I picked up another injury within a week but I feel really good now and I’m ready to finish the season off strongly."

Hamilton has been an ever-present over the last two seasons for the Seasiders but his previous experience with injury setbacks has helped him over the last few weeks.

“I think from previous experience with injuries I know how to deal with them better now,” he said.

“I worked hard and got my head down with all the gym work I had to do so that I could come back better than before.”

The 29-year-old spoke about the extra competition for places in wide areas now following Pool’s business in the transfer window.

“It’s always a nice confidence boost (when the manager praises you) but now with Sammy (Silvera) and Tom (Bloxham) coming in there is plenty of competition so we have to be on our toes and performing every week,” he said.

“In training everyone ups their levels as you know you have to be at your best.  Competition is always good for you.”

Hamilton, who hit double figures for goal involvements last season, was pleased with his first goal since returning from injury in the Exeter win and he discussed the change of role he has had under Bruce.

“It was only my second start since coming back so it was a nice little confidence booster for me,” he said.

“The victory was the main thing though and we did that, which was nice.

“I’m enjoying it (the new role), it’s more comfortable for me.  As a wide player you always want to be as high as possible up the pitch so it really suits me as I can affect the game more.   The gaffer gives me freedom in that position when we are in possession.”
