Steve Bruce expects a different type of test against Lincoln City as his Pool side look to maintain their unbeaten start to 2025.
The Seasiders travel to the LNER Stadium on Tuesday night looking to record back-to-back victories for the first time since mid-December and Bruce knows Michael Skubala’s Imps will be a stern test of their resolve.
“I was very impressed by them when they came to us earlier in the season,” he said.
“It will be a totally different game to the Exeter match, that’s this division. Totally different styles, they will put it into your box and ask you a few questions. We will have to defend set pieces well because they are very good at them. It will be a big challenge.”
Bruce’s side will be clocking up nearly 1000 miles on the road following Saturday’s long trip to Exeter City.
“Back-to-back away games that couldn’t be further away,” he said.
“Very difficult for everyone concerned especially the supporters but I guess that is the way it is. It’s the cards we’ve been dealt and we will get on the road again.”
Reflecting on the Seasiders’ 3-1 win at Exeter the Pool boss sung the praises of new signing Tom Bloxham, who he hopes can continue his fine start to life on the Fylde Coast.
“He’s had a good start to life at this football Club, which always helps for any new player adapting to a new Club,” he said.
“I thought he had a smashing debut and he did even better on Saturday. Well done to him, but now he has got to stay at those levels and that’s the hard part.
“It was a really good performance from the team as a whole on Saturday. The first-half in particular. We’ll have to be ready for the next challenge and try and get near the Exeter match in terms of performance.”
The Blackpool Head Coach provided an update on midfielder Lee Evans after he missed Saturday’s victory over the Grecians.
“He felt his calf on Thursday but we don’t think it’s anything too bad but whether it’s too early Tuesday we will have to see,” he said.
“With muscle injuries you have always got to box a bit clever.”
