Left-sided defender Zac Ashworth joined Pool in the summer of 2024 from West Bromwich Albion, where he came through as an academy graduate.  

The Welsh Under-21 international spent time on loan at Burton Albion before joining Bolton Wanderers on loan in the 2023/24 season as they lost out in the Sky Bet League One play-offs.  

Ashworth, who's father Dan Ashworth is highly regarded in the game, can play as a left-back and centre-back and signed a three-year deal in 2024 with the club holding an option for a further year. 

The young defender played 13 times in his first six months with the Seasiders but with game time limited the Welshman went out on loan for the second-half of the campaign to Scottish Premiership side Ross County.  The defender made nine appearances for the Staggies.
